Our AML and Verification Policy
Every account at Crownplay Casino is subject to anti-money-laundering (AML) checks and identity verification. We explain below exactly when we verify, what we ask for, and why.
Our AML Commitment
We hold licence 8048/JAZ2023-056 from the Curaçao Gaming Control Board, and that licence binds us to strict anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing rules. We operate as Crownplay N.V. and run our AML programme under those obligations: customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious-activity reporting and staff training are all part of it.
Our compliance team reports internally to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), who decides whether a transaction or account must be escalated. We never tell you when a report has been filed, because the law prohibits us from doing so, but every decision on your account follows documented internal procedures you can ask us about at [email protected].
When We Verify Your Account
Verification triggers
Verification is not a single event. We run checks at three points: when you register, when you request your first withdrawal, and whenever cumulative deposits or withdrawals cross internal risk thresholds. In practice, most players complete full KYC before their first payout so the withdrawal is not held up later.
- Photo ID: passport, driver licence or national ID card, valid and legible, with all four corners visible.
- Proof of address: a utility bill, bank statement or official government letter issued within the last 3 months showing your name and residential address.
- Proof of payment method ownership: a photo of the card (first six and last four digits visible, middle digits and CVV covered), a screenshot of your e-wallet account page, or a crypto wallet confirmation.
- Sometimes a selfie with your ID, if the automated document check cannot match your face to the ID.
How Verification Works Step by Step
The whole process runs inside your account dashboard, and our compliance team typically clears straightforward submissions within 24 hours. Documents must be original files, uncropped, with no editing or filters applied.
- 1. Open the Verification section of your account profile.
- 2. Upload your photo ID and wait for the automated readability check.
- 3. Upload proof of address dated within the last 3 months.
- 4. Add proof of payment method ownership for each method you intend to use for withdrawals.
- 5. Our compliance team reviews the file set and either approves it or requests clarification via email.
- 6. You receive a confirmation email once the account is fully verified.
Document security
Your documents are stored on encrypted servers with access limited to trained compliance staff. We never share your verification files with third parties except where the law of our licence jurisdiction requires it, for example a regulator request or a suspicious-activity investigation. Downloads are logged, and files are never used for marketing.
When We Ask About Source of Funds
If your deposits exceed the risk thresholds set in our AML programme, or if your betting pattern changes sharply compared with your history, we may ask you to confirm where your gambling money comes from. This is a legal requirement, not a judgement about you.
Acceptable evidence includes payslips, a tax return, bank statements showing regular income, a letter from an employer, or documents confirming the sale of an asset. We treat this information as strictly confidential, and our MLRO reviews it under the same internal rules as your identity documents. Once the review is complete, we release any held withdrawal and restore normal account limits.
How We Monitor Transactions
Our systems screen every deposit and withdrawal against AML rules in real time. The core rule is simple: you withdraw to the same method you deposited with. If you paid in via Bitcoin, you withdraw via Bitcoin; if you paid with Skrill, you withdraw to the same Skrill account. Where a deposit method cannot support payouts, such as PayID, Neosurf or CashtoCode, we pay out to a verified method in your own name.
Withdrawal limits sit at A$5,000 per day and A$10,000 per week. Crypto payouts clear in 0 to 24 hours, while fiat payouts take 1 to 3 business days. Requests above these limits, or amounts out of line with your usual play, are escalated to the MLRO before release.
| Check | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Deposits | Payment method in your own name, deposit pattern vs. your history |
| Withdrawals | Same-method rule, verified account, A$5,000 daily / A$10,000 weekly caps |
| Processing time | Crypto 0 to 24 hours, fiat 1 to 3 business days |
| Escalation | Large or unusual requests reviewed by the MLRO |
What Happens If Verification Fails
If you ignore our verification requests, your account moves into a restricted state: withdrawals are frozen and deposits are blocked until you complete KYC. Your balance stays intact and your game history is preserved, so nothing is lost while the restriction is in place.
If you send documents that are expired, edited, or belong to someone else, we reject the submission and tell you exactly what to fix. Persistent failure, use of someone else's payment method, or evidence of a third party operating the account leads to permanent closure under our licence conditions. In that case we refund your remaining balance to a verified method in your own name, less any pending bonus balances, unless the closure is linked to a suspicious-activity report.
How Long We Keep Your Documents
Our licence conditions require us to keep verification records for at least 5 years after the last transaction on your account, or after account closure, whichever is later. We keep them for audits, regulator inspections and any investigation into suspicious activity.
After the retention period ends, documents are securely destroyed and we stop processing them entirely. If you want to know which records we still hold on you, or you want a copy, email [email protected] and we will action your request under our data protection procedures, available 24/7 through live chat and email.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to verify before I can deposit?
No, you can register and deposit without full verification, but we require complete KYC before your first withdrawal and at internal risk thresholds.
How long does verification take?
Straightforward submissions are usually cleared within 24 hours by our compliance team, though complex cases or source-of-funds checks can take longer.
Why must I withdraw to the same method I deposited with?
The same-method rule is a core AML requirement of our Curaçao licence. It prevents funds moving through channels other than the ones they arrived on.
Is my passport scan safe with you?
Yes. Documents sit on encrypted servers, only trained compliance staff can access them, and every access is logged. We never sell or market with them.
What if my document is rejected?
We tell you the exact reason, such as glare, cropped edges or an expired ID, and you can re-upload a corrected file straight away at no cost.
